About boys team charity

In the Spring of 2001, two neighborhood moms in Phoenix, AZ — with six sons between them — discussed their desire to teach their children the meaning and importance of “giving back” to their community.

After some research, co-founders Anne Czerwinski and Lucia Marusiak realized that there were no organized opportunities for young boys to experience the wonderful gift of sharing their time and talents to help others. For the next year, they worked on the structure and the mission of the organization.

After a few calls to our close friends, we realized the desire and need was common among us. We immediately invited a founding board to start creating a mission for our organization.

In the Spring of 2002, boys team charity was kicked off with approximately 200 members ready to work.

Word spread, and league after league was created to satisfy the demand of like-minded parents of sons in Arizona.

And then a wonderful thing happened …

A friend of one of our Cactus members heard about boys team charity and gathered a group together in the Thousand Oaks area of Southern California and started the Conejo Valley League.

A mother in Northern California found btc through a web search and started the Pleasanton League, followed very shortly in a similar manner by the Granite Bay and Lamorinda Leagues.

And someone in Colorado, had a friend that was involved in an Arizona League and she gathered a group of friends and they started the Mile High League in the Denver area.

… and since then, growth has exploded!

As of January 2024, we have 40 leagues supporting our communities and developing our young men into future leaders. The success of btc is felt not only by our members, but by the philanthropies we serve.

May our btc boys realize personal growth by making a difference in others’ lives. As the co-founders said, the hope for our members is “Success and Significance.”

Many thanks to the individuals who had the mission of teaching their sons to ‘give back’ and accepted the challenge to begin a league in their communities. To them and their founding boards, we are grateful for your hard work and success!
